DRUMMER - COMPOSER

Since 2014, he has been a leader of Piotr Budniak Essential Group (a brand new album in 2020). Piotr has played with many notable musicians from all over the world (Rob Mazurek, Jeff Parker, Troy Roberts, Adam Larson, Corcoran Holt, Mike Moreno) and polish jazz giants (Janusz Muniak, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Piotr Wojtasik, Artur Majewski, Piotr Wyleżoł). He was also invited to Tomasz Stańko’s last standing band, unfortunately that new group was able to play only one gig, right before the great trumpeter’s passing. You can find Budniak’s name on almost 20 records.

CARRER HIGHLIGHTS

Originally from Zielona Góra. By the Jazz Forum magazine’s readers, he was chosen to be “A New Hope of Polish Jazz” ranking (2015). A graduate of 2 music accademies: in Katowice and Cracow; a laureate of majority of local jazz competions that is recognizable also internationally: he used to perform in China, South Korea, Estonia, UK, Spain, Romania, Russia, France, Belgium, Slovakia, Czechia, Germany, Hungary and Ukraine. He’s a part of many new jazz bands like Kasia Pietrzko Trio, Adam Jarzmik Quintet, Klara Cloud & The Vultures.

In Warsaw and ta king part in Buffo and Syrena theatres as the musician and composer.

As a session player, he took part in sesions of such diverse artists as Stanley Jordan, Jimek, Pezet and Organek.

TRUMPET - COMPOSER

A graduate of the Academy of Music in Łódź.

Studied, among others; with Piotr Wojtasik, Hans-Peter Salentin, Adam Kawończyk, Andrzej Zubek. Participant of many famous Polish jazz festivals, including Jazz Juniors, Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa, Jazz Jamboree 2018, Złota Tarka 2019. Worked as artistic supervisor of the concert series "Jazz Meetings at Milscha" in Łódź. Trumpeter and solist of the Big Band "Fabryka Wełna", with whom he won the 1st prize "Grand Prix" at the XXIII Big Band Festival, Nowy Tomyśl 2018. "Jazz Oscar" - Award of the President of the City of Łódź for the Best Łódź Jazzman 2018.

In the annual "Jazz Top" poll of the readers of the "Jazz Forum" magazine - he is recognized as one of the ten leading Polish trumpeters of 2019.

In the years 2006-2015 he gained his musical and stage experience playing outside Poland, first during several musical tours around Europe, then taking part in various music projects around the world and giving concerts on many stages for an international audience.

TRUMPET

Graduated in Jazz and Popular Music Department of the Academy of Music in Katowice (trumpet class under the supervision of Piotr Wojtasik) in 1998. Won the prozes: 1st place at the Jazz Juniors competition in Krakow with the Parnas Sextet band; 2nd place at the Jazz on the Odra 1998 Festival and an individual award at the Jazz Standards Competition in Siedlce.

He has performed at festivals; Jazz Jamboree, Jazz in the Old Town, "Złota Tarka" Festival.

He has collaborated with, among others, Anna Maria Jopek, Ewa Bem, Bogdan Hołownia, Andrzej Jagodziński, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Henryk Majewski, Zbigniew Wegehaupt, Andrzej Dąbrowski, Adam Cegielski, Czesław Bartkowski, Janusz Herodek, Wojciech Karolak as well as the big band Maria Schneider and Ray Charles.

He recorded music for the films: "Kryminalni", "Why not", "Closed Circuit"

He played with Janusz Muniak's Sextet (Just Friends album), and regularly performs at the Jazz Club U Muniaka in Krakow. In the years 1999-2009 I played in the Jerzy Małek Quintet (albums: By Five, Bop Beat). In the years 2005-2013 I worked with the world-famous violinist Nigel Kennedy (albums: A Very Nice Album, Shhh !!!, Live In Paris At The New Morning), with whom I toured all over the world. In 2006 I started working with Kazimierz Jonkisz in his Energy Quartet (albums: Energy, Jazz Energy, 6 Hours With Ronnie). Also since 2010, he has been cooperating with the Wojciech Karolak Trio (album: In The Sentimental Mood). Since 2015, he has been participating in the Stanisław Soyka & Wojciech Karolak Trio Swing Comunication project. Since 2016, he has been cooperating with Radzimir "Jimek" Dębski in the Jazz History project. In 2019, I took part in the recording of the album Grzegorski / Ślusarczyk / Białowolski / Adamczak / Skolik-To Muniak With Love. I performed and recorded, among others: Marek Bałata, Andrzej Cudzich, Wojciech Groborz, Leszek Kułakowski, Urszula Dudziak, Michał Urbaniak, Jarosław Śmietana, Zbigniew Namysłowski, the Slovak trio Nothing But Swing, Josef "Dodo" Sosoka, Lazaro Cruz, Ed Cherry, Jon Lord, Jeff Beck.
